At Concordia Dental, we proudly support the new federal Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This landmark program helps ease financial barriers, making essential oral health services available to more Canadians. Our goal is to make your experience seamless, transparent, and focused entirely on your health.
Here’s how we make the CDCP work for you:
A Partnership in Your Oral Health
We handle the administrative complexities so you can focus purely on treatment
- Zero Upfront Hassle : We bill Sun Life (the plan administrator) directly for all covered services. You will never have to pay the full amount upfront and wait for reimbursement.
- Clarity, Not Confusion : We are committed to transparency. Before any treatment begins, our team will proactively inform you of any potential amounts that are not covered by the plan, ensuring there are no financial surprises.
Understanding Your Coverage & Costs
The CDCP is designed for Canadian residents who lack private dental insurance and have an adjusted family net income under $90,000.
Who Is Eligible?
Eligibility for the CDCP is based on clear criteria designed to assist low- to middle-income Canadians who need it most. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Access to Private Insurance : You do not have access to private or employer-provided dental insurance.
- Income Threshold : Your adjusted Net income for the family must be less than $90,000.
- Canadian Resident : You must be a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
- Tax Filer : You must have filed your tax return for the previous year.
- Eligibility Groups : Applications are open to all age groups that meet the criteria.
For full details on eligibility, visit the official Canada.ca CDCP website.
Understanding Potential Out-of-Pocket Costs
While CDCP covers eligible services directly with Sun Life, you may be responsible for a portion of the fee (known as a co-payment or deductible) depending on your household income bracket.
Your contribution is determined by your adjusted family net income (AFNI) as reported on your tax return :

Please note:
The CDCP covers costs based on a specific fee guide set by the government. If our clinic’s standard fees for a particular service are higher than CDCP’s set rate, you are responsible for that remaining balance. We require payment for these differences and your determined co-payment portion at the time of your appointment.
Covered Services
The CDCP provides coverage for a wide range of essential, preventative, and restorative treatments. Covered services typically include:
- Diagnostic Services (Exams, X-rays)
- Preventative Care (Cleanings/Scaling, Fluoride, Sealants)
- Restorative Treatments (Fillings)
- Surgical Procedures (Extractions)
- Prosthodontic Care (Removable dentures)
Some procedures, like cosmetic treatments (e.g., teeth whitening) or certain complex services (like crowns or implants), may not be covered by the plan. Services requiring preauthorization from Sun Life will be managed by our team before treatment begins.
